2. Jessica Chastain - X-Men: Dark Phoenix

The Role: Lilandra, an alien empress who wants to imprison and eventually destroy the Dark Phoenix, aka Jean Grey (Sophie Turner).

Why She'll Be Wasted: Easily the most disappointing aspect of X-Men: Apocalypse was how thoroughly it wasted the brilliant Oscar Isaac in the titular antagonist role, and to that end it's hard to believe the directorial debut of franchise writer-producer Simon Kinberg will be much different (especially as he also wrote Apocalypse).

Chastain is one of the world's most talented actresses and the franchise is frankly lucky to have her, but considering she'll probably spend a lot of the movie acting opposite Sophie Turner, who was absolutely terrible in Apocalypse, it's hard to imagine Kinberg getting A+ work out of her.

Chastain will definitely give it her all and it won't be a blatant payday role by any means, but given how much she deserves a ripe part in a major blockbuster movie, it's a shame this probably won't be it.
