Ever wanted to know what it was like to be high on LSD without actually taking it? Just watch Terry Gilliam's 1998 dark comedy Fear And Loathing In Las Vegas. The film, which stars Johnny Depp and Benecio del Toro, was adapted from Hunter S. Thompson's equally weird 1971 novel of the same name. The film is essentially a two hour long trip and, as such, is very, very weird indeed. The film-makers used light, forced-perspective shots and different lenses to achieve the effect. The film has some very memorable scenes including the moment where the two protagonists are at a bar and the inhabitants turn into horrible dinosaur creatures. The film bombed at the box-office when it was released in theatres, but has since found an audience on DVD and is considered an absolute cult classic.
