15 Weirdest Movies Of 2016
10. 31
Rob Zombie's movies could be great; he often gets fantastic performances from his actors and he has a flair for visuals, but his stories are often sloppy and his characters obnoxious. Sadly 31 is Zombie at maximum Zombie, a mishmash of 1970’s grindhouse, white trash heroes, midget Nazis and mean-spirited violence.
It’s basically his version of The Running Man, but unlike Arnie's classic, it’s neither fun nor exciting. The heroes aren’t particularly likeable, the action is dull and the strange touches Zombie brings to every movie – like foul-mouthed hillbillies or cameos by b-movie favourites – are mighty distracting.
The main villain is kind of fun, but since he disappears for a big chunk of the runtime it’s mostly a dull chase movie with some very weird choices.
