15 Worst Comic Book Movie Sequels Ever

14. X-Men: The Last Stand

If X-Men: Origins Wolverine were a straight sequel, rather than a prequel, it would absolutely be on this list in place of The Last Stand, as it is far and away the worst film in the entire franchise. Sure, The Last Stand is deeply flawed, but it's a picnic compared to that particular dumpster fire.

The film has lots of great ideas that aren't quite delivered upon, some great sequences and some truly great performances. Sir Ian McKellen is on great form for instance, and the addition of Kelsey Grammar as Beast is genius.

The problem is in the story delivery and the direction - and also the dead-eyed spirit of Famke Janssen's Dark Phoenix (it's just never explosive enough). And it creates a rod for its own back, including Vinnie Jones as Juggernaut (bitch), the terrible de-ageing and also the focus on inferior new mutants, and those tend to be way too memorable.
