15 Worst Comic Book Movie Sequels Ever

9. Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance

When Nic Cage and Columbia announced their plans to revive the Ghost Rider series just five years after the first movie proved to be a hilarious dud, eyebrows were raised. But the idea to hand the reins to Crank's directors Neveldine and Taylor actually looked to inject some confidence in the project.

Surely they'd be able to channel the comic, bat-sh*t spirit of their Jason Statham-starring actioners and make Ghost Rider as fun as it was silly?

Nope.

The pair singularly failed to improve on the first Ghost Rider (though the CGI is great), hampered by a terrible script, undeveloped characters and Nic Cage going fully off-the-scale crazy. It still made some money, but it should really be remembered as the film that ultimately led to Marvel reclaiming the rights to Ghost Rider (as well as the one that basically ensured we won't get him in a movie for a LONG time).
