15 Worst Months To Go To The Movies Since The Year 2000

2. January 2000

Next RNumber Of Movies Released: 6 Rotten Tomatoes Average: 34% Number of Movies Receiving Lower Than 25%: 5 January 2000 kicked off the new millennium in grand fashion. How? By giving us the second worst movie month of the last 14 years. While the whole Y2K scare didn't turn out as disastrous as people feared, surely people were wondering why so many terrible movies were being released during those first four weeks? Five of 6 movies released in January of 2000 had terrible reviews. That sixth movie, My Dog Skip, is the only movie that keeps January 2000 from the #1 spot on this list. So, what was so terrible? Next Friday, the sequel to Friday, did not find much favor with critics. The movie did better with audiences, but the glaring lack of Chris Tucker was definitely felt by most. The sequel just did not have the same energy. Still, Next Friday was a classic compared to the rest of what the month had to offer. Down To You, Eye Of The Beholder, and Supernova all received lower than a 10% approval rating from critics. Down To You came out during the "height" of Freddie Prinze Jr.'s career, who starred in a handful of romantic comedies at the turn of the 21st century, but only She's All That turned out to be a commercial success.
