15 Worst Movies Of 2015 (So Far)
2. Paul Blart: Mall Cop 2
Rotten Tomatoes: 6%
Can this now be the end of the world's most unnecessary franchise? Probably not, because it made more than $70m in profit. Congratulations to each and every one of you who went and saw it.
Perhaps because there was absolutely no potential for longevity in a film whose only joke was that fat men look funny on Segways, the sequel went for the inevitable cliche of sending the "star" on holiday. While there, his life quickly goes all John McClane again as he's forced to take down a heist crew.
The problem - if you're really keen on picking out the individual turds in the pile - is that the film doesn't actually care enough about Blart to make him a sympathetic lead, which is even important in one-note parodies like this. He's just an identikit buffoon - yet another in Kevin James' woefully wasted career - and the fact that his japes were enough to get $100m out of audiences is flat out disgusting.
