Warner Bros. surely demanded that this stupendous sequence end up in all the trailers for the movie, of a giant tanker exploding in an immense, cloud-lapping fireball, as Max is flung through the air on a stick by Joe's men. It's absolutely jaw-dropping when watched on your laptop screen in 1080p, but in the cinema? It's something else entirely. Even though any Mad Max fan worth their salt has no doubt salivated over this shot time and time again, that does little to detract from the sheer awe-inspiring power of seeing it on the big screen: from the incredible sound design which cinema speakers take full advantage of to the sheer magnitude of the scene itself, it's quite literally breathtaking to behold. In short, this is the reason people go to the cinema. Don't wait until it's on Netflix: get your a** in the cinema and enjoy it in the best possible way (and IMAX too if you're able).
