Though Miller smartly sticks to minimal visual effects for the most part, there is some undeniably shonky CGI at the very end of the movie, when Nux sacrifices himself to kill Joe's son Rictus Erectus (Nathan Jones), by crashing the Rig, blocking the canyon and allowing Max, Furiosa and the Wives to make a safe escape. The crash features the most garish and noticeable CGI in the movie, clearly exaggerated for the 3D crowd, as the guitar and a wheel come flying towards the camera. It's a slightly lame choice in a movie filled with almost all good ones, so it mostly gets a free pass, but even still, it's a little cringe-worthy.
Stay at home dad who spends as much time teaching his kids the merits of Martin Scorsese as possible (against the missus' wishes).
