12. Immortan Joe's Pregnant Wife Gets Run Over & Killed
There's something of a game-changing, "holy s***" moment near the end of the movie's first half, when one of Joe's wives, the heavily pregnant Queen Angharad (Rosie Huntington-Whiteley), is hanging on the edge of Furiosa's Rig and is about to get knocked off by a protruding rock. She narrowly avoids it, and in a fine moment of comic relief, Max turns back to give her the thumbs up. Seconds later, however, the laughs are done with as Angharad falls from the Rig and is crushed by Joe's car. The other wives implore Max to stop and go back, but after he assures them that he saw her disappear under Joe's wheels, they agree to continue moving on. If there were ever any fears that a $150 million budget was going to result in a less-ballsy final product, fear not. That's right, a pregnant woman dies in it, and it's a genuinely shocking moment given the expectation that she would surely survive.
