Pitch: The Long Good Friday vs Goodfellas Cast & Crew: Ben Wheatley (Dir) Brie Larsson, Cillian Murphy, Arnie Hammer, Sharlto Copley & Sam Riley Plot: A woman (Larsson) brokers a meeting between two Irishmen (Murphy & Ben Wheatley good luck charm MIchael Smiley) and a gang of arms dealers (led by Copley & Hammer) who are selling them a stash of weapons. When shots are fired a nerve-shredding game of survival ensues. Reasons to be excited: Ben Wheatley's first big budget feature, High Rise, was always going to struggle to find a big audience due to it's high concept story of social unrest in a tower block but Free Fire has the sort of plot that could attract a wider audience and, with one of the best casts of the year, has every chance of being a truly must-see film. Don't expect to see hunchbacks or Luke Evans sporting a 70's 'stache though. Thank God. Release date: TBC
