16 Crazy Facts You Just Have To Accept To Enjoy The Matrix Trilogy
14. Switch's Sucky Line Reading (The Matrix)
The Matrix franchise is full of ridiculous dialogue, though most of it (especially anything that comes out of the Merovingian's mouth) is delivered in such a way that the actor demonstrates they're in on the joke and fully embracing the absurdity of it. A relatively reasonable line in the first Matrix movie, however, is rendered laughable due to the actor's shoddy delivery, when Switch (Belinda McClory) realises she's about to be fatally unplugged from The Matrix by Cypher (Joe Pantoliano). The line? "Not like this...", at which point Switch looks up and repeats, "Not like this..." The delivery is so stagey and cringe-worthy, somewhat ruining an otherwise compelling and dramatic scene, not to mention making everyone care a whole lot less that Switch had just been, well, switched off.
