16 Crazy Facts You Just Have To Accept To Enjoy The X-Men Franchise
6. Michael Fassbender's Accent Is Horrible (First Class)
Michael Fassbender is a fantastic actor, and carved a fine role out for himself as young Magneto in X-Men: First Class. Watching him switch-up languages in an instant and kick some Nazi a** was an absolute delight, but his American accent? Not so much. It works in Fassbender's favour that he spends so much of the film speaking in foreign languages, because when speaking native English, his accent swerves wildly between his attempt at American and his true Irish accent. The most wince-inducing and laughably obvious moment occurs late in the movie, when young Xavier (James McAvoy) asks him, "Ready for this?" and he retorts in a scarcely-disguised Irish accent, "Let's find out!" Thankfully Fassy had a much better hold on his American accent by the time Days of Future Past rolled around, as he'd evidently worked on a few more films to get his accent down pat.
