16 Crazy Facts You Just Have To Accept To Enjoy The X-Men Franchise

7. The Movies Should Be Rated-R

One thing's for sure, no movie that commonly revolves around a guy stabbing people to death with sharp metal claws that come out of his hands should be rated PG-13. Nevertheless, because these movies want to actually make money, Bryan Singer and the other directors have had to artfully work around showing the actual stabbings, and in the case of X2, even cutting a few graphic stabbing shots to appease the censors. While there's not a lot of objectionable material in the movies as a whole to justify an R-rating, it would allow Jackman to portray and even more physical and beast-like Wolverine. In fact, when Darren Aronofsky was initially attached to direct The Wolverine, it was pitched as R-rated, a dream that will likely never come to fruition because it's just going to cost Fox too much money. Granted, the R-rated DVD edition of The Wolverine is a step in the right direction, with multiple F-words and gore splatter (even though it's pretty far from a hard-R), but making audiences pay twice to see Wolverine in his full, gory glory isn't really fair on fans.
