7. The Thing's Big Moment - Fantastic Four

If it wasn't for Josh Trank's rather unfortunately well-publicised... issues on the set of Fantastic Four, we might have actually got a Director's Cut of the disastrous film by now. As it is, he apparently fell out with everyone and his original vision was lost somewhere in Fox's attempts to save face.

Trank got some revenge by tweeting that he'd made a superior cut that wouldn't ever be seen, much to Fox's continued delight, and there were some hints of what that might include in the pre-release marketing materials. The trailers included a shot of The Thing dropping out of a plane into heavy gunfire and smashing up a terrorist camp, which might have actually given the bland film a useful shot in the arm.

Why It Was Cut

Who knows? The studio obviously didn't like it for some reason they've never released, and the whole Trank issue and the film's critical reception probably makes a reissue particularly unlikely.
