16 Horror Films Worth Getting Excited About In 2016

13. The Purge 3

The Purge is not a very good film. It sets up an awesome if illogical premise of a society where all crime is legal for one night, but then it proceeds to have its characters stay in their home the entire movie, never giving the audience much of a glimpse into this universe.

So why be excited for The Purge 3?

Well, because The Purge: Anarchy was actually a massive improvement, addressing a lot of the complaints viewers had the first time around.

Anarchy takes place all across Los Angeles rather than in one boring family's house, so this time we get to see the impact of the Purge on society as a whole. It also expands on many ideas presented in first movie, such as how the Purge is less about getting out aggression and more about eliminating poor people.

So, what do we know about The Purge 3? Not a lot as of yet, although it's currently filming in Rhode Island at the State House, the Speaker's Office, and the Governor's State Room, perhaps suggesting a closer glimpse at the government's perspective in this instalment.

There have also been rumors that it might follow anti-Purge revolutionaries, which would be really interesting to explore. Let's just hope Blumhouse is able to keep this franchise watchable for at least one more sequel.
