16 Horror Films Worth Getting Excited About In 2016

After being gone for a decade, The Ring franchise is coming back next year with Rings from F. Javier GutiƩrrez.

Considering it's been so long, you'd probably expect this to be a reboot or remake of some sort, but nope. Rings will instead be the third film in the series, taking place 13 years later and apparently following up on The Ring Two, a sequel which not nearly as many people saw.

Other than the title and the fact that it's a Ring movie, we know very little else, but it seems inevitable that the film won't follow a cursed tape anymore. After all, any victim who received it in 2015 probably wouldn't even own a VCR.

Will it simply be a DVD this time, or might GutiƩrrez update it into a viral video? It'd be fun to see the process of receiving a tape turned into being sent a strange link to some underground website, although that's an idea the Japanese sequel Sadako 3D explored to less than satisfying results.

Still, The Ring is one of the great horror films of the 2000s, and The Ring Two wasn't as bad as you'd expect, so let's hope this will complete a trilogy of solid Ring movies before the series is inevitably rebooted.
