16 Intriguing Indie Films To Watch Out For In Spring 2014

4. Only Lovers Left Alive

Plot: A reclusive vampire rockstar rejoins with his longtime lover after becoming depressed with what human society has turned into.

Writer/director Jim Jarmusch is back, baby, and this looks to be the most interesting film he's made in years. There have been so many different vampire movies and TV shows made over the past five years; it was surprising to learn that Jarmusch would want to delve into the subject. But once you watch the trailer, it makes a lot of sense. You can easily see the director's typically dry humor permeate each scene and overall the movie just looks really cool.

You also can't go wrong with a cast like this. Tom Hiddleston, Tilda Swinton, Mia Wasikowska, John Hurt, Anton Yelchin, and Jeffrey Wright all appear in the film. After all those Avengers-related movies, it'll be fun to see Hiddleston in something that's a little offbeat. The movie made festival stops in Cannes, Toronto, and New York last year, and the reviews have been almost universally positive. Definitely put this film on your radar.

US release date: April 11th
