17 Crazy Facts You Just Have To Accept To Enjoy The Fast & Furious Franchise

9. Sean Boswell Is The Worst Protagonist (Tokyo Drift)

Introducing a new protagonist to compete with Dominic and Brian was never going to be an easy feat, so perhaps going in totally the opposite direction wasn't a terrible idea, but Lucas Black's southern hick high-schooler Sean Boswell just totally lacked the charisma and likeability necessary for a Fast and Furious protagonist. Though his banter with Han throughout was plenty fun and Black is a great actor who doesn't work enough, Sean's leading presence just made Tokyo Drift feel like a straight-to-DVD spin-off that didn't much belong in the franchise (even though it's in fact far from a bad film). There's the distinct feeling that Sean would be a much better fit as a supporting character, and as such it'll be interesting to see how he fares with his confirmed role in Fast and Furious 7.
