2. The Franchise Has Essentially Become A Cartoon

With the change in tone that came with Fast Five, the Fast and Furious franchise has basically become the live-action equivalent of Wacky Racers, with stunts that intentionally defy gravity (namely Dominic flying through the air to save Letty in the sixth film) and characters surviving feats that no human in their right mind could. It's all in good fun, and has resulted in a critical and commercial resurgence of the franchise, though there are those who view the "silly" new direction with a certain disdain, even if there's a certain irony in that these ridiculous new movies use considerably less CGI than the first few, more "grounded" films did. Still, going by the huge box office haul, viewers have by and large embraced this exaggerated approach to action, and why not?
