After saving the world from alien menaces for a year back in 2005, former Ninth Doctor Christopher Eccleston became the alien menace in 2013s Thor: The Dark World when he played the suitably sinisterly-named Malekith, Lord of the Dark Elves. Having the unenviable task of following Loki as the main villain in a Thor film (though Loki himself played a sort of anti-hero role in the movie), Eccleston was considered to give a chilling performance by most fans. Though any hoping for a return of his character probably shouldn't get too excited. The actor is notorious for not returning to previous roles (just ask the hundreds of heart-broken Who fans).
