5. You've Got Mail - AOL

Nora Ephron's You've Got Mail is actually a rather entertaining late-90s rom-com, and one which exploited the burgeoning trend of Internet/e-mail communication before anyone else had the chance. However, that's little excuse for the late Ephron shoehorning AOL's logo and signature "You've got mail!" alert into the film at just about every opportunity. While it hardly sinks the film, this is largely down to Hanks and Ryan's charming performances, and one can't help but feel Ephron could have just as easily used a false e-mail client, but alas, one can imagine that with e-mail slowly picking up speed in the late-90s, AOL were prepared to make a substantial "donation" to the production's cost.
