17 Things You Didn't Know About Austin Powers

5. Goldmember Nearly Jumped The Shark In Run-Time

All three Austin Powers films clock in a run time of somewhere around one and a half hours. So you can imagine the surprise when Jay Roach finished his first cut of the third film, Austin Powers in Goldmember, and came out with a three hour cut of the film. Because of the nearly double run time between the original cut and the released theatrical cut a lot of material had to be removed. Material that had to be removed from the film included Heather Graham reprising her role of Felicity Shagwell and a return of Will Ferrell as Mustafa, who would now require to be asked a question 4 times before revealing the truth. Other parts that had to be cut included scenes of Frau, Number 2 and Scott packing up the old evil base before Scott realizes he wants to be evil, Austin getting drunk after his knighting , an extended first "Fahza" sequence and a second "Fahza" sequence. Further scenes that were removed included: the return of the Japanese twins, a musical montage after Nigel and Austin split, more of the young Austin and Dr. Evil at the academy and a discussion between the villains over the value of gold.
