18 Absolute Weirdest Movies In Existence

12. Society

The vacuous and superficial whims of high society in Beverly Hills is as ripe as any other subculture for the scathing sword of satire, and Brian Yuzna certainly pulled out all the stops in his 1989 horror movie Society. Yuzna's directorial debut, the movie unleashes a grand guignol of weirdness that equals anything the director has made since. Bill Whitney (Billy Warlock) seems like he has it all - living in his obscenely wealthy parents' mansion, he's loved by all at school and has everything an American teenager could ask for, from the cheerleader girlfriend to the expensive car. It doesn't take long before he realises that all is not as it seems, and beneath the surface of the polite society in which he lives lies a dark and perverse heart where the rich feed on the poor - literally. Scathing social commentary has never been portrayed with such weirdly unnerving verve.
