12. Half-Blood Prince And Crimes Of Grindelwald Are Awful

Unfortunately, this is not a dud-free franchise.

As you'd expect from this series, both Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince and Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald are visually stunning and beautifully acted, but neither work at all.

Half-Blood Prince is a tedious and unfunny romantic comedy that's filled with anticlimaxes, terrible jokes, misjudged deviations from the book (one of the very best, if not the best in the series, ironically enough) and bad pacing. Ultimately, it just ends out of nowhere without having any sort of a finale.

Meanwhile, Crimes of Grindelwald is a truly terrible work that makes for one of the strangest, worst-written, worst-structured and most misjudged blockbuster films in recent memory. Hopefully the third Fantastic Beasts film will bring this series back up to its normal high standards.
