1. Will Star Wars Episode VII: The Force Awakens Live Up To The Original Trilogy?
Release Date: December 18th Easily the most anticipated movie of 2015 is the J.J. Abrams-directed Star Wars Episode VIIl: The Force Awakens, which has a tidal wave of expectation to live up to given the director's keen promise to veer away from the effects-heavy, soulless nonsense of George Lucas' prequel trilogy and deliver a follow-up closer in tone and style to the beloved original trilogy. With Abrams' assured direction and an insanely strong cast including the returning Harrison Ford, Carrie Fisher, Mark Hamill, Anthony Daniels, Peter Mayhew and Kenny Baker alongside John Boyega, Daisy Ridley, Adam Driver, Oscar Isaac, Andy Serkis, Domhnall Gleeson, Max von Sydow, Lupita Nyong'o and Gwendoline Christie, fanboy excitement is high before the first teaser trailer or snippet of confirmed information about the plot has even been released. Though the unavoidably high expectations could easily harm the film in the long run, is it not possible that the consistently solid Abrams could actually live up to the insane level of hype? Verdict: Expect a new Star Wars film to capture the same feeling as the original three movies and you will probably end up disappointed, because above all else, there's a good chance you were rather young or not even born when the originals came out: you were raised on them, and to believe that Episode VII can live up to this is just absurd. That said, go in with a healthy expectation that it will exceed the prequel trilogy and deliver something in the 7-8/10 range, and there's a good chance you'll emerge from The Force Awakens satisfied if not elated, unless something has gone seriously wrong in the creative stage.
