18 Directors Who Sneaked In References To Their Own Movies

12. David Fincher – Tyler Durden’s Facebook Profile

Social Network Fight Club
Columbia Pictures

David Fincher’s semi-biographical dramatization of the founding of Facebook and its co-founder Mark Zuckerberg was released to critical acclaim in 2010, scoring a few Oscars and Golden Globes in the process.

Fincher apparently couldn’t resist throwing in a little nod to one of his earlier movies in The Social Network. Jesse Eisenberg stars as Zuckerberg and in a scene in which the Harvard University student is trying to cheat on an art class assignment, he signs up with a fake Facebook profile using the alias Tyler Durden.

Tyler Durden, you’ll remember, is the alter ego (played by Brad Pitt) of the Narrator (aka Jack) in Fincher’s 1999 film Fight Club based on writer Chuck Palahniuk’s novel of the same name. We are Jack’s complete lack of surprise.

Helen Jones hasn't written a bio just yet, but if they had... it would appear here.
