It's been talked about for years at this point, but Harrison Ford WILL be returning as Indiana Jones in the near future. Or so we're told. There are very few details surrounding the project at this time, however Disney have confirmed a release date of 29th July 2022.
Returning to the franchise after a 19 year break in 2008 didn't go as well as could be hoped with The Kingdom of the Crystal Skull, but here's hoping another 14 years of post-analysing its mistakes will help the 5th entry reclaim Indy's cinematic glory.
Though Ford will be returning to his Lucasfilm badass adventurer not named Solo in 2022, it will be the first Indiana Jones movie without director Steven Spielberg at the helm.
James Mangold instead takes the reigns of Walk The Line and Logan fame, and who most recently helmed one of the best movies of 2019, Ford Vs Ferrari. Clearly Disney and Lucasfilm believe him to be the man who can breathe life back into the Indiana Jones franchise, and it's not difficult to see why.
