18 Hugely Unexpected Roles In Upcoming Movies

13. Tony Revolori - Spider-Man: Homecoming

The Role: Flash Thompson, the iconic comic book bully of Peter Parker (Tom Holland).

Why It's Unexpected: For starters, Flash is typically white in the comics while Revolori is of Guatemalan descent, and secondly, Flash is typically an imposing bully, and Revolori is in no way a physical specimen.

Hell, for comparison's sake, Flash was played by the man-mountain Joe Manganiello in Sam Raimi's original Spider-Man movies.

Will It Work?: Marvel Studios rarely make casting mistakes, and they've already stated that the new Flash re-imagines the character as a smug rich kid in order to reflect a more contemporary view of bullying.

The purists may still end up having problems with this depiction of the character, but it honestly sounds like something fresh and unique, rather than simply keeping Flash as a brutish bonehead. Whatever happens, Revolori's acting chops aren't at all in doubt.
