After the Blu-ray release of Prometheus, eagle-eyed Ridley Scott fans noticed a particularly interesting Easter egg hidden in the disc’s featurettes that hints towards a connection between the movie and Blade Runner.

A few lines of text supposed to be a note dictated by Prometheus’ villain Peter Weyland describes a former mentor and competitor of his that “ran his corporation, like a God on top of a pyramid overlooking a city of angels” and created “genetic abominations” that he “enslaved and sold off-world.”

If that doesn’t sound like Tyrell and his replicants, then we don’t know what does. Perhaps Tyrell’s “abominations” were a precursor to Weyland’s superior synthetics like David? Another featurette revealed Scott had originally wanted to establish an even firmer link by calling Weyland Industries the Weyland-Tyrell Corporation instead.

Of course, if Prometheus takes place in the same universe as Blade Runner then so do all the Alien movies that came before and after it and the Predator movies too, thanks to the Alien vs. Predator crossover films. So, don’t be too surprised if a Predator pops up in Blade Runner 2049.
