6. The Fog Was An Accidental Effect

James Cameron seems to be the perfect type of director. He spends weeks setting up pivotal scenes and spends months writing and rewriting scripts. But if a scene doesn't work out the way he envisioned, he's just as good as coming up with something else on the spot.

But there are moments in his work that came to be purely by chance. When Sarah Connor and Kyle Reese leave from under the bridge, they enter a fog-filled forest. You would assume this mist was created with a smoke machine or a similar device.

In reality, this "fog" is nothing more than bug spray. During filming, a swarm of flies infested the area, which delayed production. When the crew realised they were running out of time, they used bug spray to disperse the insects. The actors were going to wait until the mist subsided but Cameron felt like it created an atmosphere and so, decided to keep it in the film.

Thanks, bugs.
