18 Most Anticipated Movies For Nerds Coming In 2021

After Robert Downey Jr's role as Iron Man reached its tearful conclusion last year in Avengers: Endgame, the actor has finally been confirmed to continue on other projects that were being put on hold until his release from Marvel. The most anticipated is the third instalment of the Sherlock Holmes franchise, starring Downey as the great detective who will be returning for his next mystery.

With the success of the first two films, and Jude Law starring alongside as Sherlock's right hand man Dr Watson, fans have waited in anticipation for the next, which was first given a release date of 2015. However, rewrites and shifts around have caused huge delays over the years.

The production was famously left on the backburner until Rocketman director Dexter Fletcher agreed to take on the creative role and Downey was soon confirmed to be on board not long after. The actor has hinted that he has plans to springboard the franchise into its own cinematic universe, much like his superhero phase from before.

The new release date for the movie is looking at Christmas 2021, but production has been said to be on and off in recent months and crew are unsure if this will be ready in time.
