18 Most Heartbreaking Moments In The MCU (So Far)
4. Half The Universe
If this entry had been divided by person, it probably would have made its own list. This scene in Infinity War didn't pull any punches as audiences were forced to watch their favourite, beloved characters fade away as dust on the wind, in the aftermath of Thanos's victory.
From when Bucky says "Steve?" in the most lost-sounding voice, to Rocket desperately denying that he has to watch Groot die again, this entire segment shocked audiences around the world into silence in the theatres.
The most memorable of the deaths, of course, is the purportedly improvised Spider-Man one, with Peter Parker telling Tony Stark he's scared, and Tony having to endure the teen literally slipping through his fingers as he tried to assure him he was alright.
One of the more surprisingly painful moments was that of Rhodey searching for Sam, not seeing him fade away right in front of him, missing him by a few meagre seconds.
Even knowing, with Black Panther, Spider-Man, and Strange getting their own sequels, that these deaths aren't permanent, it was still a shock to endure regardless, and even sadder the second or third time around, when the shock wears off and all that's left is grief.
