18 Upcoming Villains Who Will Be More Interesting Than The Heroes
7. Blackbeard - Pan
The Hero: The boy who never grew up, before he committed to the never growing up part. This is the origin story for the legendary Peter Pan.
The Villain: Surprisingly, it’s not Captain Hook. Rather, this role will be filled the completely real, completely terrifying pirate, Blackbeard.
Why The Villain Will Be More Interesting: It’s not every day you get Hugh Jackman playing a flamboyant villain. Especially one with a real and rich history like Blackbeard's. Peter Pan’s impossible existence is well-known, but it’s going to be interesting to see how they work Blackbeard into their fantastical narrative.
The premise of a Peter Pan origin seems ill-advised and even with Joe Wright at the helm, it’s hard to get excited about the character. Blackbeard, on the other hand, is easy to get pumped up for. His history is vast, his appearance is striking and his goals are mysterious. And rather than an unknown child playing him, it's an established, award-winning actor.
Beyond that, Captain Hook is an iconic villain himself, so the possibility that Blackbeard could inspire him in some way promises for a heck of a character.
