The Hero: Idealist Steve Rogers, whose 1940 ideals no longer function in the modern world. As Captain America, he’s still trying to find where to stand in a morally-grey world.

The Villain: Though he was once freewheeling and carefree, in recent outings, Tony Stark has become much more aware of the consequences of his work. As such, he’s become focused on cleaning up his own messes and setting the world on what he believes to be the right track.

Why The Villain Will Be More Interesting: The concept of Iron Man as a villain is extremely intriguing. We’ve seen him act in his own self-interests to the detriment of others before, and we’ve also seen him act antagonistically to Captain America. But he’s always maintained his status as a hero who's done the right thing in the end.

So what happens when what he thinks is the right thing is, in fact, not the right thing? That’s what the best villains are made of. Characters who legitimately believe that they are the heroes of their own story and that what they are doing is right. More than any villain, Iron Man is absolutely sure to fulfill that premise.
