18 Upcoming Villains Who Will Be More Interesting Than The Heroes

3. Apocalypse - X-Men: Apocalypse

The Hero: Though the series is yet again expanding with more mutants, the crux of the story is likely to still belong to Charles Xavier. An older Xavier, who is now bald and using the wheelchair full time.

The Villain: The first mutant, an ancient evil so powerful that his comic book self created a totalitarian alternate dimension where he ruled all. Steeped in Egyptian mythology, the movie version of Apocalypse is shown to be a departure from the source, one who looks different and has a different power set.

Why The Villain Will Be More Interesting: Despite the X-Men universe now existing in a new timeline, it’s safe to assume that we still have a reasonably good impression of how Professor X and Magneto will turn out. There’s no excitement about them since we know exactly where they’re headed.

Conversely, we don’t know anything about where Apocalypse is going to end up. Terrible costume notwithstanding, the character is one of the X-Men’s most powerful foes and that raw ability in itself makes him interesting. Then there’s Oscar Isaac to consider, along with the rich source material of Age of Apocalypse, and there’s good reason to believe that Apocalypse will be the most interesting thing about his own movie.
