18 Upcoming Villains Who Will Be More Interesting Than The Heroes
13. Baron Zemo - Captain America: Civil War
The Hero: A symbol of America, Steve Rogers is a modern-day hero who still holds his roots in World War II.
The Villain: Son of an infamous Nazi, Baron Zemo grew up resenting Captain America for what he did to his father.
Why The Villain Will Be More Interesting: The most appealing thing about Captain America is the way in which the ideals from his time conflict with the realities of the current world he fights for. That will always be an interesting premise, but after three movies with him in the present, it’s become a little worn out.
Baron Zemo is a fresh face, however, and his twist on this similar characterization makes him a great foil to Cap. He’s from our time but chooses to believe in the ideals of the past, striving for a socialist world. It will be incredibly engrossing if we’re given the chance to explore that mindset, and how it conflicts with Cap’s. Zemo represents the realities of a frightening Nazi, one who is resourceful, powerful and realistic, despite what his appearance might suggest. He can be downright terrifying if used correctly, giving a new take on Cap’s tired WWII history.
