18 Worst Moments In Every MCU Movie (So Far) - Ranked
11. The Warriors Three Get Slaughtered (And Where Was Sif?) - Thor: Ragnarok
The Film
Without question the best of the three Thor movies, Ragnarok saw director Taika Waititi bring his uniquely eccentric tone to the MCU, proving beyond any doubt that auteur filmmakers can still have a voice at this level of broad blockbuster cinema.
Visually stunning, hilarious and possibly the weirdest MCU film yet, it's still slave to Marvel formula at the end of the day, but at least it feels a little more fresh.
The Moment
Thor's (Chris Hemsworth) trusty pals Hogun (Tadanobu Asano), Volstagg (Ray Stevenson) and Fandral (Zachary Levi) - aka the Warriors Three - end up summarily slaughtered by Hela (Cate Blanchett) after she arrives on Asgard.
They're not able to put up much of a fight, and though it cements Hela's ruthless brutality, their deaths happening so quickly felt like a short-sighted waste of a potentially affecting moment.
This is further exacerbated by the baffling absence of Sif (Jaime Alexander), which is never explained, presumably because Marvel wanted to leave the door open for her to return (Alexander didn't appear due to scheduling conflicts).
The movie already had plenty going on, sure, but this was a moment worth lingering on for a little longer.
