13. Zombie Jake Johnson - The Mummy

Something that Universal completely kept out of trailers for The Mummy reboot is that Nick Morton's (Tom Cruise) sidekick Chris Vail (Jake Johnson) gets bitten by a spider and "infected" by Princess Ahmanet's (Sofia Boutella) curse, turning him into a grey-skinned zombie before the end of act one.

He murders his superior officer (Courtney B. Vance) and ends up shot dead by Nick when he tries to stab him, but re-appears to Nick throughout the movie as a ghost, warning him of what's to come.

At the very end of the film, however, he's randomly resurrected by Nick, who has now become some sort of superhero Mummy. Really.

What's even odder about the Chris twist is that the trailers even showed him looking very alive and not-infected in scenes where he was in fact infected in the final movie, before the moldy zombie CGI had been applied. Pretty weird and manipulative, no?
