12. Roland Awkwardly Hugs Jake - The Dark Tower

The worst of the many awkward scenes in the colossally disappointing Dark Tower adaptation involves Roland (Idris Elba) and young Jake (Tom Taylor) returning to the latter's apartment to find that his mother, Laurie (Katheryn Winnick), has been burned to a crisp by the Man in Black (Matthew McConaughey).

Jake is naturally distraught, and Roland tries to comfort him by giving him a hug, but makes things unintentionally comical by lifting him off the ground and carrying him out of the apartment in the manner one typically would an infant or young child, but certainly not a teenager.

Part of the problem here is that Jake is meant to be around 11 years old, but actor Tom Taylor actually turned 15 during shooting, and the discrepancy is incredibly obvious in the final movie considering how quickly kids change at those ages.
