10. Viola Davis Wins Best Supporting Actress (Thanks To Category Fraud)

Viola Davis won the Best Supporting Actress Oscar as everyone knew she would for her fantastic work in Fences.

There's no doubting the ferocity of her brilliant performance, but her win is tainted slightly by the fact that it's clearly a lead performance that's been shoved into the supporting field to avoid competing with Best Actress winner Emma Stone.

Not only does it take away a spot from an actual supporting actress, but David could have potentially beaten out Stone anyway, so it's a shame Paramount weren't courageous enough to campaign her as a lead.

The Academy really needs to clamp down on category fraud and establish a more defined criteria for what is a lead and what is supporting.
