20 2010s Horror Movies You Must See Before You Die

9. Green Room

It Follows
A24

Plot: A punk band try to survive a gang of violent neo-Nazis after they witness a murder in a skinhead club.

Green Room is a heart-pounding, brutally violent and almost unbearably tense thriller in which every death and every outbreak of violence hit like a baseball bat to the face.

It benefits from Jeremy Saulnier's ferocious direction, the superbly-constructed set-pieces and excellent performances - especially the hugely scary villainous turn from the usually delightful Patrick Stewart - make what could've been a very straight-forward locked room thriller into one 2016's greatest movies, as well as another one of the decade's horror classics.

It's also another huge recent hit for A24 and although more squeamish viewers should stay away due to how violent it is, for everyone else this palm-sweating thrill ride will be an absolute treat. Just don't watch the next film Jeremy Saulnier did, Hold the Dark.
