20 2010s Horror Movies You Must See Before You Die

14. The Witch

Plot: A family in 1690s New England descends into paranoia amidst the presence of witchcraft and black magic.

Another slow-burn classic, this one introduced Robert Eggers (The Lighthouse) to the world and heralded the arrival of a serious new talent.

Chilling and hugely thought-provoking, The Witch mines all the horrific, moving thrills it can out of its great premise and messes with your head in a highly effective manner.

Still, for all the shivers it induces, The Witch is possibly even better as a drama than as a horror film thanks to its fabulous cast of British talent (including Anya Taylor Joy and Game of Thrones' Kate Dickie and Ralph Ineson) and Eggers' powerful script.

The Witch will definitely go down in history as one of the decade's horror classics and, due to all the horror it'll inevitably produce with its psychologically terrifying story, it's a very frightening experience.
