20 2010s Horror Movies You Must See Before You Die

Plot: A vampire stalks the residents of an Iranian ghost town.

This one was described as "The first Iranian vampire Western" and, impressively, the film itself actually lives up to the awesomeness of that description.

A horror film that's mostly without traditional scares, this is instead a beautiful, dream-like and visually glorious work of overwhelming atmosphere, melancholia and subtle yet effective emotional drama. A movie that actually manages to make the done-to-death vampire sub-genre feel fresh, this is like no other movie from recent times and suggests great things lie ahead for director Ana Lily Amirpour.

The ending is disappointing (a common problem throughout horror cinema) but that doesn't detract from what is a terrific and unforgettable viewing experience. There hasn't been a vampire movie as good as this since and it doesn't seem likely another one on this level will come along anytime soon.
