20 90s Movie Scenes That Traumatized Us All

The death of Jack is one of the sad movie deaths. The devastation it inflicted upon audiences the world over can be clearly seen in the way it has permeated popular culture and dominated rankings of tear-jerking moments in the almost 30 years since it happened. 

Honestly, it's one of the many, many upsetting scenes within James Cameron's oft-underappreciated masterwork, which recounts an appalling historical tragedy and all of the injustices associated with it to heart-rending effect, though there's no denying that this is the one people most remember. Jack and Rose's love story is a well-drawn, involving plotline, and though neither Leonardo DiCaprio nor Kate Winslet are at the peak of their powers necessarily, they have great chemistry together all the same. 

Some do complain that this whole love story was cliched and melodramatic, but that was kind of the point. Titanic is a throwback to old Hollywood that deliberately goes for a heightened approach, and besides, it worked. With this movie, Cameron reaffirmed the magic of a classic, cheesy Hollywood love story and left everyone emotionally floored by the end. All these decades later, we still remember it vividly.
