20 Action Films From The 1990s You Must Watch
10. Demolition Man (1993)
When you see Sylvester Stallone starring in an action film, you would expect him to be the main attraction of the film and have the most memorable performance. But in this case, Wesley Snipes completely outdoes him in a role he seemed to be having way too much fun in.
Set in the crime ridden year of 1996, Stallone plays the role of Sergeant John Spartan, who disobeys orders to capture psychopathic criminal Simon Phoenix, played by Snipes. But after its revealed that Spartans actions resulted in the death of some hostages, both men are sentenced to the city's new "Cryo-Penitentiary", a prison in which convicts are cryogenically frozen and exposed to subliminal rehabilitation.
Fast forward to the year 2032, and Phoenix is thawed for parole and escapes custody. Spartan is also thawed to try and capture him, as the police of the future are unable to deal with Phoenix’s level of violence. Where Stallone is his usual brooding self, Snipes is like a child let loose in a candy store and is the undeniable star of this film, which is filled with plenty of gunfights and awesome fistfights between Stallone and Snipes.
