20 Action Films From The 1990s You Must Watch
3. Heat (1995)
Robert De Niro and Al Pacino were among some of the biggest leading actors of their time. So when you put them together in a grounded and violent heist movie, you get compelling performances that help elevate the action and suspense to a whole new standard.
De Niro plays seasoned professional thief, Neil McCauley, and Val Kilmer plays his trusted right hand man and closest ally, Chris Shiherlis. They and their crew land themselves in hot water after a robbery ends in the deaths of three security guards, resulting in them being hunted down by detective Lt. Vincent Hanna, played by Pacino.
Unlike most action films, Heist earned a lot of praise for its dialogue, as actors like De Niro and Pacino were able to convey what their characters were thinking in a very compelling and believable way. But of course, the film was also praised for its realistic shoutouts and its many twists and turns that kept audiences guessing as to how things were going to pan out.
Heist promises to keep you spell bound during its quieter moments, but also get your heart racing as it gets to its most chaotic scenes.
