17. Point Break (1991)
After a few smaller successes in the 80’s, Keanu Reeves was given a huge opportunity to elevate his career as he got to work with director Katheryn Bigelow in Point Break and work with the likes of Patrick Swayze, Lori Petty and Gary Busey.
Keanu starred as the disciplined rookie FBI agent Johnny Utah, who is tasked with investigating a string of bank robberies by a gang referred to as the ex-presidents. When it is believed that the gang are surfers, Utah goes undercover to infiltrate the surfer community and is drawn to a group he believes to be the bank robbers.
But as Utah gets better at surfing, he finds himself being drawn to the surfers' adrenaline-charged lifestyle and their leader Bodhi's philosophies on life. When it is revealed that the gang are indeed the bank robbers, Utah is torn between his sense of duty and his admiration for Bodhi.
The film decides to replace the stereotypical macho men firing machine guns with some exhilarating scenes of surfing and skydiving that are still remembered today as some of the films most iconic scenes.
