20 Action Movie Sequels Since 2000 That Don't Suck

Taken 2 is basically Taken 1 with a slight reversal – this time, Liam Neeson, who’s been abducted by the father of the bad guy he killed at the end of the first movie, has to rely on his daughter’s help. In other words, the only person who can save the day is Maggie Grace. Uh oh.

Fortunately, the director is Olivier Megaton (Transporter 3, Columbiana) so the action is taut, and if it feels a little more forced this time around, well, that’s how it goes in sequels. The script is by Luc Besson and Robert Mark Kamen, who also scripted the original, which helps keep the material the right side of being just another hacked-out sequel.

On a side note, are there not too many similarities between Bryan Mills and 24’s Jack Bauer to be a coincidence? Both worked for government organisations, have blonde daughters named Kim and found their wives murdered. Time to lawyer up, Mr Besson.
