20 Actor Nationalities You've Been Getting Wrong All Your Life

8. Guy Pearce

"I won't even pretend to guess where Guy Pearce was born. The guy has a different accent in every film he's in, but if I had to try and figure it out, like some clued-up nationality expert, I'd say... he's Australian, right?" Close, But No Cigar... Guy Pearce was born in England to an English mother and a father from New Zealand. He relocated to Australia when he was three-years-old, making this all terribly confusing to work out, actually. He identifies as an Australian citizen, then, but given that his mother was English, and he was born in Cambridgeshire, you might say that he's actually more English than Aussie.

7. Ryan Gosling

"There is is - Hollywood heartthrob Ryan Gosling. He's about as American as apple pie, this guy. And surely if Ryan had been born in another, far off country we'd have heard about it by now. Don't tell me: he's Russian." Um, no... But not many people know that Ryan Gosling is actually Canadian, and was born in London, Ontario, to a couple of Mormons. He moved to the United States on a two-year contract with The Mickey Mouse Club when he was twelve, and the rest - as they say - is history.
